NEW Roots Farm

Where new growers take root.

About the farm:

Located: 446 S Terrace Ave, Columbus, OH 43207

New Roots Farm exists to lower the barrier to becoming a grower. The site is intentionally designed as a supportive entry point into urban agriculture, with room to learn the realities of production through hands-on practice. It offers space for emerging growers to build skills, confidence, and community while producing food close to home and strengthening local food access.

Right now, New Roots is a farm in the making. The site is a City of Columbus Land Bank parcel in the first stage of its transition: a vacant lot with grass, a plan, and 50 yards of compost waiting to be spread. Over the coming season we will be building beds, laying out growing space, and getting the ground ready for its first growers. If you want to see a farm come together from the dirt up, this is the place.

Urban Farmer Program

New Roots is built for our Urban Farmer Program. The program gives growers space and support to farm at a bigger scale than a backyard allows. Grow for sale, for your family, or for donation. It is open to anyone with the drive to farm, whether you are just starting out or have years in the field, and it is meant to be the step between gardening and running a farm of your own.

As New Roots comes online, it will add room for more growers alongside the four Urban Farmer plots at the Garden District Community Farm on Ann Street. If you want to be one of the first to grow here, reach out and we’ll keep you posted as the site takes shape.
